I'm not so sure he's a nihilist, but rather a fideist. Here's some definitions from Anthony Flew's Dictionary of Philosophy:
Nihilism:
"...believing in nothing save science, materialism, revolution, and (in the abstract) the People. The word has since been employed, usually by opponents, of various other destructive tendencies."
The idea was popularized by Turgenev's Fathers and Sons. Also, it was applied in the ideology of National Socialism.
Fideism:
"The view, recurrent throughout religious history, that essential religious doctrines cannot be established by rational means, but only accepted, if at all, by acts of faith. Its extreme form holds that religion requires the acceptance of doctrines actually absurd or contrary to reason."
Either way, he is indeed a violent, hateful little whatever the hell he is.
Oh. Well, I've read lots of different definitions of nihilism. Tend to think of it in a more literal sense, I guess: Nihilo = "Nothing". He values nothing. Except maybe some masturbatory thoughts of violence committed to people who make him feel bad.
Well, the atheist in his story wasn't exactly polite, but I suspect that was more because he embellished (or completely made up) the events in order to make a better "joke."
It does raise a question though: Should athiests say "God bless you" or some form of it? The whole thing's an old superstition anyways, but nowadays it's considered polite to do so. Maybe we should just go with Seinfeld and say "You're so good lookin'" whenever someone sneezes.
Seinfeld obviously a funnier comedian than this guy! I actually do say "bless you" but it doesn't mean anything to me, it's just a habit. It might mean something to the other person. One of the definitions of "bless" can be viewed as godless:
"to confer prosperity or happiness upon"
...so think of it as saying "may someone make you happy and rich".
Man, I've been saying that about Dane Cook for years, but nobody wanted to listen. It's not even just this; he's violent, hateful, and unfunny, but he sure as hell thinks he's damn funny. That's gotta be the worst thing ever: a comedian with no sense of self-deprecation.
For a great comedian who also happens to be a non-theist (I'm still not sure atheist or agnostic) check out Eddie Izzard, if you haven't already. His "Dress to Kill" is fantastic and has some great religious humor, as do "Glorious" and "Circle." A million times as funny as Dane Cook, without the arrogance.
Leave it to an atheist to speak one of the fundamental truths of life: Dane Cook is not funny.
This is a truth so essential, I was compelled to reflect on it at the very start of Bible Study for Atheists.
I'm from Boston, and after all the hype he got in these parts, I felt compelled to buy one of his CDs.
Spend a second recalling the most terrible, depressing moment of your entire life. Then take solace in knowing it's funnier than "Harmful If Swallowed."
I hope you find the time. The last thing you want to be is "left behind," and when the Rapture comes, make sure you mention your time in the Bible Study. You just don't have to mention which one....
Oooh! Oooh! As far as funny Atheists go, I second the nominations for George Carlin and Eddie Izzard and also nominate David Cross. Doug Stanhope claims to be an agnostic, but he's DEFINITELY a guy with no love for the Bible or Jeebus.
And Dane Cook DEFINITELY blows. It's amazing (and truly sad) how big a 'comedian' can get without having any real, ACTUAL jokes.

Well, he is a Catholic.

Unlike Dane Cook, Eddy Izzard is extremely funny, especially in "Dressed to Kill." And according to this list, Eddy is definately an atheist.
George Carlin is another funny afeists...
He doesn't even manage to be interesting enough to be offensive. Just dreadfully dull. My six year old grandchildren tell better jokes.

Glad to see word is getting out.
And thanks for the reminder on the Bible Study for Atheists. I'm way behind.

Anyone else find his "huh huh huh" laughing at himself seriously damned annoying?
Also, wtf re: saying gesuntheit means you worship Hitler? Is it just me, or is that schoolyard-level humour? "Ew! Germans have cooootieeeees!"

My disapproval is a little more circumscribed. I've heard some Cook routines that made me laugh. However, this bit totally blows.
And Eddie Izzard? Holy shit is that man funny.
