Nothing Better To Do
Well, I walked out on my job yesterday afternoon and made it official this morning. It was sucking the life out of me. I didn't even give two weeks notice. Just a letter of resignation via email. I left my badge and keys at the desk and took my coffee mug. Not very professional. So, what now? I have little choice but to leave town once my lease is up and go back to school.

Wow, that was BALLSY!
Good for you for taking a chance on yourself. Any job that sucks the life out of you is worth leaving, and you had the cahones to do it. Congrats! :)
Things might look craptacular but I'm willing to wager that things will work out better for you in the long run.
Yes, I have thought about doing that many times. I just do not have the balls to do so and with kids, bill and mortgage payment, it'd be too much of a risk
@jp: That means you're a responsible person... so cheers to you as well! :)
Bob, I did that about 4 years ago, and it felt fantastic. I, too, was in a job that was making my life miserable.
The difference in my case was that I gave 4 weeks notice. I was told the next day that they were probably going to run out of stuff for me to do within a couple of days, so I could just go, and they'd pay me out for the notice period.
I then had 6 months off living on some savings that I had, before I went back to work again.
I couldn't recommend this to anyone enough. I hope you start to feel great, because after the crappiness subsides, you will. And it comes around quickly too.
No worries. I'm glad. Time to think, read, blog and eventually go back to grad school. I'll be alright.
Responsible? Ha! My wife would tell you otherwise, hence, she has full control of our bank account.
There's one thing to remember about leaving a crappy job: you can always find another one just as crappy later on. And getting more schooling never hurts.
Best of luck! leaving Austin?
:-(
I don't have much of a choice.
