Grab the Nearest Book

Evil Bender has just tagged me with a meme that's been making the rounds. The rules are simple.

1. Grab the nearest book (that is at least 123 pages long).
2. Open to p. 123.
3. Go down to the 5th sentence.
4. Type in the following 3 sentences.
5. Tag five people.

Next to my bed I have a copy of Slaughterhouse-Five by the late Kurt Vonnegut. Let's see, I'm in a mental institution on page 129, so flipping to page 123 it seems I've come unstuck again. Now I'm back in that awful prison camp.

There was a silence now, as the Englishmen looked in astonishment at the frowsy creatures they had so lustily waltzed inside. One of the Englishmen saw that Billy was on fire. "You're on fire, lad!" he said, and he got Billy away from the stove and beat out the sparks with his hands.

So it goes.

I'll tag Akusai, Dikkii, Infophile, JanieBelle, and Tom Foss. Enjoy.

Cool! I like how that one turned out.

Being unstuck in time is tricky. Make sure you don't warn anyone about the great Corn Dog Crisis of 2009...

...oops.

You know what? I'm insane. I actually bothered to track this one back to its roots to see who started it. I got all the way back to a post on Dec. 2, 2006. No linkbacks, so I suspect this might be the origin. Honestly, I lost count of how many links I followed, but if everyone who was tagged were to do it, with how many links I've followed, than I think we might just have proof of alien life.

I'll do it, but I'm not going to be proud of this one.

Done. And I'm really not proud of it.
